EVENTS FOR GNoR BIG MEMBERS: 2016 / 2017

These are training sessions where participants are
introduced to topics such as Introduction to Bats, Bat Identification and
Echolocation. Afterwards there is training on the erection of mist nets
and harp traps, as well as handling of bats. This is put into practice in
the evening where live bats may be caught with these devices.

For all bookings, please, ensure that required details are advised - i.e. names, numbers of persons in group, contact details, time of arrival etc
Please could all persons booking become familiar with costs, times, locations and dates etc before making contact for booking.
Please also have details of numbers, adults, children, members, non members etc also available.
Fees paid to attend meetings and outings go towards Bat Research, Conservation or purchase of equipment for field work and to help us better demonstrate Bats to the public.
Some events are subject to restrictions on numbers.

This is always magical as you not only get to see bats, but also some nocturnal animals in the Zoo.Let us know if you would like to attend or perhaps help out on the Friday / Saturday night to assist with bat catching and equipment handling. Email: Kate@iws-sa.co.za

The African Chiroptera Report (2009) is available for downloading from the following web page- http://www.africanbats.org/ACR.htm.
All specimen records contained in the African Chiroptera Report (2009) have been made available as ESRI shapefiles, which can be downloaded (two zipped files- by taxa and country) from the same URL.
