BAT TRAINING DAYS

These are training sessions where participants are introduced to topics such as Introduction to Bats, Bat Identification and Echolocation. Afterwards there is training on the erection of mist nets and harp traps, as well as handling of bats. This is put into practice in the evening where live bats may be caught with these devices.

The cost of attending these sessions are in the region of R 45 and is a little cheaper for members.

Please Note the Following regarding All Bookings:

For all bookings, please, ensure that required details are advised - i.e. names, numbers of persons in group, contact details, time of arrival etc

Please could all persons booking become familiar with costs, times, locations and dates etc before making contact for booking.

Please also have details of numbers, adults, children, members, non members etc also available.

Fees paid to attend meetings and outings go towards Bat Research, Conservation or purchase of equipment for field work and to help us better demonstrate Bats to the public.

Some events are subject to restrictions on numbers.

Keep the dates open!  We might change the venue, but we normally stick to the date but we will update the calendar as soon as there are any changes.

EXCURSIONS:                                             

new 27 January 2017. Wagendrift Guest Farm, Lydenburg.

See: http://www.wheretostay.co.za/wagendrift-self-catering-cottage-accommodation-lydenburg, which is in an interesting transition area from highveld to lowveld.
The farm has three dams where fly fishing for trout is possible and has access to the Spekboom River.
We will stay at the three en-suite bedroom Savuti cottage at R350/p/n (R160 children under 12). There is also a seperate Jatabi Cottage for two available at the same price.

TALKS & TRAINING COURSES:

One evening - every 2nd month.

new 10 Dec 2016. GNoR BIG Bat Talk at JHB Zoo. 17:00 for 17:30 at the Old Elephant House. See Poster

This is always magical as you not only get to see bats, but also some nocturnal animals in the Zoo.
