Get Involved in the Wonderful World of Bats
Join us if you are interested in finding out more about bats and getting involved in our activities.
Being a GNoR BIG member will give you the best opportunity available to see a variety African bats and learn about these intriguing creatures.
Membership is open to anyone interested – no qualifications necessary.
GNoR BIG Activities
- Talks to the public.
- Weekend bat outings to interesting places, from farms to nature reserves, cave sites, etc.
- Answering bat queries from the general public.
- Arranging talks by bat specialists covering topics such as recent findings from field trips, bat-human diseases, bat biology and so on.
- Contributions to the body of knowledge on African bats.
- Training in bat identification and as bat workers.
Annual Membership Fees:
(1 Jul 2023 – 30 Jun 2025)
Students & Scholars: R 80
Pensioners: R 80
Ordinary Members: R 130
Family membership: R 160
Institutional membership: R 900
We hold an Annual General Meeting at which committee members are elected from the members.
Newsletter
Members receive two to four newsletters per year containing programmes of upcoming events, report-backs on outings and other activities, news items of interest regarding bats, short accounts of bats in southern Africa and contributions from members.
